PHILOSOPHY AND APPROACH TO COUNSELING AND MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPY:

         The therapeutic relationship between client and therapist can help the client   develop an understanding of his/her behavior and aid in the development of goals and strategies to resolve problems.  A variety of  therapeutic interventions may be used in treatment, including brief solution focused interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, communication skills training, conflict resolution, anger   management, parent training,  marital skills training, group therapy, family therapy and homework assignments.

     This therapist is a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and supports the objectives of the Association as stated in   the bylaws and abides by the Code of Ethical Principles For Family Therapists.

    This therapist subscribes to the Oregon Code of Ethics in OAR833-60-004(h).

 FORMAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

    This therapist has a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from   Abilene Christian University graduating in 1983.  Major course work included  marriage and family therapy, psychology and counseling.  Special training  includes  advanced work in chemical dependency treatment.  This therapist   has a commitment to participate in continuing education as a condition of  licensure, to maintain licensure or as required by licensure and secures at least 20 hours of continuing education yearly.
