This is a tip from Bill O'Hanlon on making changes.
Change The Viewing Tip #1: Change perspectives
Changing perspectives on the problem situation
This involves getting a different perspective on the problem situation. Sometimes we get stuck with one view of the situation that doesn't help us resolve it or get through it or feel very good. Try one of these on to find out if it make a positive difference.
Think of the most optimistic person you know: How would he or she view this situation?
Think of the most effective problem-solver you know: How would he or she view this situation?
If it were five years from now, how do you think you'd be viewing this situation? Ten years? Twenty years? Fifty?
How could you turn this situation into some kind of art that would metaphorically express or illustrate the situation or your feelings about it or experience of it?
· A painting
· A poem
· A sculpture
· A song
· A short story
· A memoir piece/autobiographical writing
· A personal monologue given in front of an audience
· A dance piece
· A photograph
